Spence Children’s Anxiety Scale (SCAS)—Preschool Version

This 28-item scale (with additional unscored questions about trauma) screens for general anxiety, separation anxiety, social anxiety, OCD, and personal injury fears.

Scoring

  • Parent Report Scoring: Total score of 34 or higher is considered “elevated”, as it corresponds to T-scores of 60 or above.
  • Teacher Report Scoring: Teacher scores do not have T-scores or cutoffs but may be followed over time.
