This workshop is the first of a six-part series, in which we will explore implicit bias, intersectionality, and other cultural factors that affect behavioral health treatment. You will learn about strategies and resources for supporting LGBTIQA, Muslim, Latinx, and African-American clients and how to create a more welcoming and inclusive practice. In this introductory session, we will discuss the theoretical framework for this series and the concept of intersectionality. We will examine the ways in which implicit bias and microaggressions can affect the client/clinician relationship and how our awareness of these factors can improve treatment.
